DC 1st time buyer

Thank you again Brent. You have made the buying experience an enjoyable experience. You and your team was awesome. I may need to revisit a loan for a cheaper investment/rental property late this year or early next year and will definitely come back when ready!

VA condo purchase in Virginia. 2nd tier entitlement. TOUGH loan. But we did it.

We had been working with a big-name national bank to secure a pre-approval, but we were running into all the usual big-bank frustrations: stuck in the automated phone system trying to talk to a real person, getting passed back and forth between agents, trying to decipher long checklists written in their jargon, etc.  Our real estate agent reached out to Brent Mendelson at First Mariner for some advice on a particular question about our VA loan, and Brent's response was so prompt and knowledgeable that we decided to drop the big bank immediately and start working with Brent.  He walked us through the entire process with attention to detail and a personal customer service that I have rarely experienced in any industry.  He was seemingly always accessible (even on evenings and weekends) to answer our questions.  We were using a VA eligibility with a slightly unusual property/situation, but we managed to close on time with a competitive rate with the VA loan no problem.  We recommend Brent and First Mariner to our friends and family who are now in the market for a home/mortgage.

Brent was great, always easy to get and he beat the rates of Navy Fed and USAA and by quite a bit.
I was a little worried about using an out of state lender but everything was just as he said it would be and I will come back if we ever move but with the rate he got us it may be awhile.

Jumbo cash out, self employed with multiple homes.

Brent was my loan officer for my home refi.  He was very patient with us through the entire process and helped us get to the end with no major snags. I would highly recommend him for anyone considering a loan!

FHLB/MPDU Condo purchase Bethesda, MD

After working with Brent Mendelson at 1st Mariner Bank to purchase my first home all I can say he was awesome. I was referred by a local realtor. Due to the fact I was looking at a new home, the realtor could not be involved in the transaction. Which meant Brent was going to do a lot more work. He was honest with the figures from the beginning with me. I had discussed what I could afford and where my budget was. The process can be very scary for someone like me, first time homebuyer to understand. He was always communicating with me and throughout the process. He was also able to find me a program that gave me a grant for $5000.00. This was huge for me. Yes I know that I have to live at my current house for 5 years or for each year that I don’t I have to repay $1000.00, still huge. No one these days gives out $5000.00. I took a counseling session over the phone which was great for my understanding on how manage my finances. His numbers that he had shown me were pretty close to the numbers showing at closing, which was great. I would recommend Brent to anyone who is being a home for the first time or any other buyers. He is honest and reliable which are traits that are very important when buying a home. Once again thank you for making my dream of owning my home a reality.

Washington County Maryland purchase.

Brent and his team were awesome to work with in the search for our new home.  He was patient with our loan and home buying questions.  When we did have a question is he was quick to get back to us and provide us with thorough answers without a lot of technical jargon.  He even added the personal touch of showing up to our closing, which we really appreciated.  We've already recommended Brent to some of our friends who are interested in loan options for buying a new home.  Trust that you will be in good hands if you work with Brent!
