I recently bought a four bedroom / four bathroom house in Calvert County, MD, and Brent Mendelson was my loan officer. It would be a pleasure to work with Brent on another transaction, and I would recommend him without reservation to anyone. Three factors made Brent standout among other loan officers when I purchased my first home. He was accessible, knowledgeable, and effective.

My first inaction with Brent was by email on the morning of July 3. He promptly responded and we coordinated an afternoon phone call. None of the other loan officers who I contacted responded. It seemed as if they were more concerned with taking the afternoon off before the Fourth of July holiday. Not Brent. He made himself available to answer my questions and he did this on my schedule. That was an impressive first impression. Yet, that level of personal attention remained through closing day. On numerous occasions, Brent was available to answer even the most basic questions after traditional workhours. Moreover, he put me at ease by proactively keeping me informed during each step of the home buying process.

Brent was very knowledgeable and able to explain information in the simplest of terms. He never made me feel inadequate or small when asking a question or asking him to repeat information. Brent worked as the consummate professional with my real estate professional and displayed skill when working with my title company to ensure the seller’s contribution to closing costs was utilized to the maximum extent possible.

Simply put, Brent was incredibly effective. He made the process look easy as he worked with laser-like focus to match me with a competitive rate and complete the required documentation on schedule. While obtaining a low interest rate was important, the peace-of-mind from finding a trustworthy and responsive loan officer was more valuable than finding the lowest possible interest rate. However, this was another area where Brent impressed. Not only was he trustworthy and responsive, but on closing day the settlement agent and seller’s agent both commented how my interest rate was the lowest they saw in weeks.
